Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The escalating environmental concerns related to non-biodegradable polymers have spurred research interest in developing sustainable alternatives for packaging applications. This thesis focuses on the synthesis and characterization of biodegradable polymers as eco-friendly solutions to address the challenges posed by traditional packaging materials. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility of developing biodegradable polymers with desirable properties for sustainable packaging applications. The research methodology employed in this study includes a comprehensive literature review to establish the current state of knowledge in the field of biodegradable polymers and sustainable packaging. Subsequently, experimental investigations are conducted to synthesize biodegradable polymers using environmentally friendly raw materials and innovative processing techniques. The synthesized polymers are characterized using various analytical methods to evaluate their mechanical, thermal, and barrier properties, essential for packaging applications. The findings of this study reveal that biodegradable polymers can be successfully synthesized with tailored properties suitable for sustainable packaging. The characterization results demonstrate that the synthesized polymers exhibit promising mechanical strength, thermal stability, and barrier properties, making them viable alternatives to conventional packaging materials. Furthermore, the biodegradability assessment confirms the eco-friendly nature of these polymers, offering a sustainable solution to reduce environmental pollution. The significance of this research lies in its contribution to the development of biodegradable polymers for sustainable packaging applications, addressing the growing demand for eco-friendly packaging materials. The results of this study have practical implications for industries seeking environmentally sustainable alternatives to traditional packaging materials. By providing insights into the synthesis, characterization, and potential applications of biodegradable polymers, this research contributes to the advancement of sustainable packaging technologies. In conclusion, this thesis presents a comprehensive investigation into the synthesis and characterization of biodegradable polymers for sustainable packaging applications. The results demonstrate the feasibility of developing environmentally friendly polymers with tailored properties to meet the requirements of modern packaging needs. The findings of this study offer valuable insights for researchers, industries, and policymakers interested in promoting sustainable practices and reducing environmental impact through the adoption of biodegradable polymers in packaging applications.
