The procurement process in the public sector plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the utilization of public funds. This research project focuses on investigating the impact of the application of tendering and competitive bidding in contract administration within the Ministry of Works in Imo State. The study aims to assess how the tendering and competitive bidding processes are carried out, the extent to which they align with regulatory frameworks, and the overall impact on contract administration practices. A mixed-methods research approach will be employed, involving both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Interviews with key stakeholders involved in the procurement process, such as procurement officers, contractors, and government officials, will provide valuable insights into the current practices and challenges faced in tendering and competitive bidding. Additionally, a review of relevant documents, such as procurement regulations and contract administration guidelines, will help in understanding the existing framework. The data collected will be analyzed using thematic analysis to identify common themes and patterns related to the application of tendering and competitive bidding in contract administration. The findings will be presented descriptively to provide a comprehensive overview of the current practices and their impact on the public procurement process in the Ministry of Works. The research findings are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on public procurement practices, specifically in the context of contract administration within the public sector. The study will provide recommendations for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the tendering and competitive bidding processes, with a focus on enhancing transparency, fairness, and value for money in public procurement. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on the significance of tendering and competitive bidding in contract administration within the public sector, using the Ministry of Works in Imo State as a case study. By examining the current practices and their impact, the study aims to provide valuable insights that can inform policy and practice improvements in public procurement processes, ultimately contributing to better governance and resource management in the public sector.
