** Social media platforms have become an integral part of modern society, with young adults being among the heaviest users. This study aims to investigate the impact of social media usage on the mental health of young adults. The research explores the potential correlations between social media engagement and various aspects of mental health, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and overall psychological well-being. The study begins with a comprehensive review of existing literature on social media and mental health, highlighting both positive and negative effects reported in previous research. The methodology section outlines the research design, sampling method, data collection procedures, and statistical analyses employed to examine the research questions. Findings from the study reveal a complex relationship between social media usage and mental health outcomes. While some participants reported feeling more connected and supported through social media interactions, others experienced feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and low self-esteem as a result of their online activities. The study also identifies specific patterns of social media use, such as excessive comparison with others and exposure to cyberbullying, that are associated with negative mental health outcomes.
