This longitudinal study investigates the effects of social media on the mental health of adolescents. The pervasive use of social media platforms among adolescents has raised concerns about its impact on their psychological well-being. The study aims to explore how various aspects of social media usage, such as time spent, content exposure, and interaction patterns, influence the mental health outcomes of adolescents over time. The research methodology involves a longitudinal design, tracking a cohort of adolescents over an extended period to observe changes in their social media behavior and mental health status. A mixed-methods approach will be employed, combining quantitative surveys to measure social media usage patterns and mental health indicators, along with qualitative interviews to gain deeper insights into the subjective experiences of participants. The literature review delves into existing research on the relationship between social media and mental health, highlighting both the positive and negative effects identified in previous studies. Factors such as social comparison, cyberbullying, sleep disturbances, and fear of missing out are among the key themes explored in the literature review.
