The civil service in Nigeria has long been plagued by issues of ineffectiveness and inefficiency, with Akwa Ibom State serving as a notable case study. This research project aims to delve into the root causes of the challenges facing the civil service in Akwa Ibom State and explore potential solutions to enhance its performance. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods to provide a comprehensive analysis. Data will be gathered through interviews with key stakeholders in the civil service, including government officials, civil servants, and members of the public. Additionally, surveys and questionnaires will be distributed to gather quantitative data on the perceptions and experiences of civil servants and the general public regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of the civil service in Akwa Ibom State. The research will focus on identifying key factors contributing to the ineffectiveness and inefficiency of the civil service in Akwa Ibom State, including issues such as bureaucratic red tape, corruption, inadequate resources, lack of accountability, and political interference.
