Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Background Sedentary lifestyles have become increasingly common among young adults, leading to a rise in cardiovascular health issues. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has gained popularity as an efficient exercise regimen to improve cardiovascular health. This study aims to investigate the effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults. Methods A comprehensive literature review was conducted to explore the existing research on HIIT and cardiovascular health. The study involved a 12-week HIIT intervention with sedentary young adults aged between 18-30 years. Participants were randomly assigned to either the HIIT group or a control group. Various cardiovascular health parameters, such as blood pressure, heart rate, VO2 max, and lipid profiles, were measured before and after the intervention. Results The results of the study indicated significant improvements in cardiovascular health parameters among participants in the HIIT group compared to the control group. Participants in the HIIT group showed lower blood pressure, resting heart rate, and improved lipid profiles. Additionally, there was a significant increase in VO2 max, indicating improved cardiovascular fitness. Conclusion This study provides evidence that HIIT is an effective intervention for improving cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults. The findings suggest that incorporating HIIT into the exercise routine of sedentary individuals can lead to significant improvements in cardiovascular health parameters. Further research is needed to explore the long-term effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health and to optimize HIIT protocols for different populations. Keywords High-Intensity Interval Training, Cardiovascular Health, Sedentary Young Adults, Exercise Intervention, VO2 max, Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, Lipid Profiles.

Thesis Overview

Overview: The research project titled "The Effects of High-Intensity Interval Training on Cardiovascular Health in Sedentary Young Adults" aims to investigate the impact of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults. Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of mortality worldwide, with physical inactivity being a significant risk factor for the development of such conditions. Sedentary lifestyles, especially among young adults, contribute to poor cardiovascular health, emphasizing the importance of effective exercise interventions. High-intensity interval training has gained popularity in recent years for its time-efficient and potentially superior cardiovascular benefits compared to traditional moderate-intensity continuous exercise. This research seeks to explore how HIIT can improve cardiovascular health parameters such as aerobic fitness, blood pressure, lipid profile, and endothelial function in sedentary young adults. Through a comprehensive literature review, this project will examine existing studies on the effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health, highlighting the mechanisms through which HIIT exerts its beneficial effects. The research methodology will involve recruiting sedentary young adults and implementing a structured HIIT program over a specified period. Baseline assessments and follow-up measurements will be conducted to evaluate changes in cardiovascular health markers pre and post-intervention. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the efficacy of HIIT as a potential strategy to enhance cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults. By elucidating the physiological adaptations induced by HIIT, this research aims to contribute to the development of evidence-based exercise recommendations for improving cardiovascular health outcomes in this population. In conclusion, this research project on the effects of high-intensity interval training on cardiovascular health in sedentary young adults addresses a significant public health concern and has the potential to inform exercise prescription guidelines for promoting heart health among this demographic. The results obtained from this study may have implications for clinical practice, fitness programming, and public health initiatives aimed at reducing the burden of cardiovascular diseases in sedentary populations.
