Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals, aiming to provide insights into the effectiveness of this exercise regimen in improving cardiovascular parameters among this population. The study addresses the growing concern of sedentary lifestyles contributing to the rising prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and aims to explore HIIT as a potential intervention to mitigate these health risks. The research methodology involved a systematic literature review to analyze existing studies on the effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health. This review identified key trends, knowledge gaps, and inconsistencies in the literature, forming the basis for the primary data collection phase of the study. A total of 100 sedentary individuals were recruited and randomly assigned to either a HIIT intervention group or a control group. The HIIT group underwent a structured training program consisting of high-intensity exercise sessions interspersed with periods of rest, while the control group maintained their sedentary lifestyle. Cardiovascular parameters, including heart rate, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and aerobic fitness, were assessed at baseline and after the intervention period. The results indicated significant improvements in cardiovascular health markers among participants in the HIIT group compared to the control group. Specifically, HIIT was found to enhance aerobic capacity, reduce resting heart rate, lower blood pressure, and improve lipid profiles in sedentary individuals. These findings highlight the potential of HIIT as an effective strategy for improving cardiovascular health in this population. The implications of this study suggest that incorporating HIIT into the exercise routines of sedentary individuals may offer a time-efficient and impactful approach to enhancing cardiovascular fitness and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on exercise physiology and public health by demonstrating the benefits of HIIT in promoting cardiovascular health, particularly among individuals with sedentary lifestyles. In conclusion, this thesis provides valuable insights into the effects of High-Intensity Interval Training on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. The findings underscore the importance of regular exercise, particularly HIIT, in improving cardiovascular parameters and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases in sedentary populations. Further research is warranted to explore the long-term effects of HIIT and to optimize exercise protocols for diverse populations to promote overall cardiovascular well-being.
