Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis investigates the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. Sedentary lifestyles have been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, making it a significant public health concern. HIIT has gained popularity as an efficient exercise modality that can improve cardiovascular fitness in a time-efficient manner. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of a structured HIIT program on cardiovascular health parameters such as blood pressure, heart rate, lipid profile, and aerobic capacity in sedentary individuals. The research methodology employed in this study includes a randomized controlled trial design, with sedentary individuals assigned to either a HIIT intervention group or a control group. The HIIT intervention consists of structured training sessions that alternate between high-intensity exercise bouts and periods of rest or low-intensity activity. Pre- and post-intervention assessments will be conducted to evaluate changes in cardiovascular health parameters. The literature review provides a comprehensive overview of existing research on HIIT and its effects on cardiovascular health. It examines the physiological mechanisms underlying the cardiovascular adaptations to HIIT and explores the potential benefits of HIIT compared to traditional continuous exercise training. The findings from this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. The discussion of findings will analyze the results in the context of previous research and discuss the implications for clinical practice and public health interventions. The conclusion will summarize the key findings of the study, highlight its significance, and provide recommendations for future research in this area. Overall, this thesis aims to provide valuable insights into the potential benefits of HIIT as a strategy to improve cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals, ultimately contributing to the development of effective exercise interventions for promoting cardiovascular wellness and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
