Thesis Abstract

Abstract
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) has gained popularity in recent years as an effective exercise regimen for improving cardiovascular health. This study aims to investigate the specific effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. The research methodology involved a comprehensive literature review, followed by a structured HIIT program implemented with sedentary participants over a specified period. The study sample included individuals who were classified as sedentary based on their physical activity levels and cardiovascular health status. The literature review in Chapter Two highlighted key studies on the benefits of HIIT on cardiovascular health, including improvements in aerobic capacity, blood pressure regulation, lipid profiles, and overall cardiovascular function. Chapter Three detailed the research methodology, including participant recruitment, HIIT program design, data collection methods, and statistical analysis techniques. The HIIT program consisted of alternating periods of high-intensity exercise and active recovery, tailored to individual fitness levels and closely monitored for safety and efficacy. Chapter Four presented the findings of the study, which demonstrated significant improvements in cardiovascular health markers among sedentary individuals following the HIIT intervention. These improvements included increased aerobic capacity, reduced resting heart rate, improved blood pressure control, and favorable changes in lipid profiles. The discussion of findings emphasized the importance of HIIT as a time-efficient and effective exercise strategy for improving cardiovascular health in sedentary populations. In the concluding Chapter Five, the study summarized the key findings and implications for future research and clinical practice. The results of this study contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of HIIT as a beneficial intervention for enhancing cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. The practical applications of HIIT in promoting cardiovascular fitness and overall health underscore the significance of this research in addressing the public health challenge of sedentary behavior and cardiovascular disease risk. Overall, this thesis provides valuable insights into the effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals and offers important implications for exercise prescription and health promotion strategies. The findings of this study underscore the potential of HIIT as a feasible and effective intervention for improving cardiovascular health outcomes in sedentary populations, with implications for public health initiatives aimed at reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease.
