Thesis Abstract

Abstract
High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has gained popularity in recent years due to its time-efficient nature and potential benefits for cardiovascular health. This comparative study aimed to investigate the effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. The study involved a sample of sedentary individuals who were randomly assigned to either a HIIT group or a control group. Baseline assessments of cardiovascular health parameters, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and cholesterol levels, were conducted for all participants. The HIIT group then underwent a structured HIIT program, while the control group maintained their usual sedentary lifestyle. The literature review presented in this thesis highlighted the existing evidence on the benefits of HIIT for cardiovascular health. Previous studies have shown that HIIT can lead to improvements in aerobic capacity, blood pressure regulation, and lipid profiles. However, there is a gap in the literature regarding the comparative effects of HIIT on sedentary individuals specifically. The research methodology section detailed the study design, participant recruitment process, intervention protocol, outcome measures, and statistical analysis plan. Data collection involved pre- and post-intervention assessments of cardiovascular health parameters, as well as participant feedback on their experience with the HIIT program. The findings of the study revealed significant improvements in cardiovascular health parameters among the participants in the HIIT group compared to the control group. Specifically, the HIIT group exhibited reductions in blood pressure, heart rate, and cholesterol levels, as well as improvements in aerobic capacity. These results suggest that HIIT can be an effective intervention for improving cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. The discussion section provided a comprehensive analysis of the study findings in the context of existing literature. The mechanisms underlying the cardiovascular benefits of HIIT were explored, emphasizing the importance of high-intensity exercise in stimulating physiological adaptations. Practical implications for implementing HIIT programs in sedentary populations were also discussed. In conclusion, this study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of HIIT as a strategy to improve cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. The findings highlight the potential of HIIT to induce favorable changes in cardiovascular parameters and underscore the importance of regular physical activity for overall health and well-being. Further research is warranted to explore the long-term effects of HIIT and optimize its implementation in sedentary populations.
