Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis investigates the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with physical inactivity being one of the key risk factors. HIIT has gained popularity as an efficient and time-effective exercise strategy that may offer significant cardiovascular benefits. This study aims to contribute to the existing literature by examining the impact of HIIT on various cardiovascular parameters in sedentary individuals. The introduction provides a background to the study, highlighting the importance of cardiovascular health and the role of exercise in its improvement. The problem statement underscores the lack of research on the specific effects of HIIT in sedentary populations. The objectives of the study are to assess changes in cardiovascular fitness, blood pressure, lipid profile, and other relevant parameters following a HIIT intervention. Limitations of the study, such as sample size constraints and duration of the intervention, are acknowledged. The scope of the study focuses on sedentary individuals without pre-existing cardiovascular conditions. A comprehensive literature review explores existing research on HIIT and its effects on cardiovascular health. Ten key studies are analyzed, highlighting the positive outcomes of HIIT interventions in various populations. The research methodology section outlines the study design, participant recruitment, intervention protocol, data collection methods, and statistical analysis plan. Ethical considerations, such as informed consent and participant safety, are also addressed. The discussion of findings chapter presents the results of the HIIT intervention on cardiovascular parameters. Changes in cardiovascular fitness, blood pressure, lipid profile, and other relevant outcomes are analyzed and compared to baseline values. The implications of these findings for sedentary individuals and public health are discussed in detail. In conclusion, this thesis provides valuable insights into the effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals. The results suggest that HIIT may be an effective strategy for improving cardiovascular fitness and reducing cardiovascular risk factors in this population. Recommendations for future research and practical implications for healthcare professionals are also discussed. Overall, this study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of HIIT as a promising intervention for cardiovascular health promotion in sedentary individuals.
