Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis investigates the effects of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on cardiovascular fitness in sedentary individuals. The study aims to explore the potential benefits of HIIT as a time-efficient exercise intervention for improving cardiovascular health in individuals with a sedentary lifestyle. The research methodology involved a comprehensive literature review, followed by a structured intervention study to assess the impact of HIIT on cardiovascular fitness parameters such as aerobic capacity, heart rate, blood pressure, and lipid profiles. The literature review revealed a growing body of evidence supporting the effectiveness of HIIT in improving cardiovascular fitness in various populations, including sedentary individuals. The research methodology included recruiting sedentary participants and implementing a HIIT program tailored to their fitness levels and goals. Data collection involved pre- and post-intervention assessments of cardiovascular fitness using standardized tests and measurements. The findings of the study demonstrated significant improvements in cardiovascular fitness parameters following the HIIT intervention. Participants showed increased aerobic capacity, lower resting heart rates, improved blood pressure levels, and favorable changes in lipid profiles. These results suggest that HIIT can be an effective strategy for enhancing cardiovascular health in sedentary individuals, offering a time-efficient alternative to traditional continuous exercise training. The implications of this study are significant for public health promotion and clinical practice, highlighting the potential of HIIT as a feasible and beneficial exercise intervention for individuals with limited time or motivation for regular exercise. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on HIIT and cardiovascular fitness, emphasizing the importance of personalized exercise programs to maximize health outcomes in sedentary populations. In conclusion, this thesis provides valuable insights into the effects of High-Intensity Interval Training on cardiovascular fitness in sedentary individuals. The findings support the use of HIIT as a promising exercise modality for improving cardiovascular health and overall well-being in this population. Further research is warranted to explore the long-term effects and sustainability of HIIT interventions in sedentary individuals and to optimize exercise protocols for individualized health benefits.
