Thesis Abstract
Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with older adults being particularly vulnerable to these conditions. Regular exercise has long been recognized as a key factor in maintaining cardiovascular health and preventing the onset of cardiovascular diseases. This thesis explores the effects of exercise on cardiovascular health in older adults, aiming to provide valuable insights into the potential benefits of physical activity in this population. Chapter One of the thesis provides an introduction to the topic, presenting the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives of the study, limitations, scope, significance of the study, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two offers a comprehensive literature review, analyzing ten key studies that have investigated the relationship between exercise and cardiovascular health in older adults. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, participants, data collection methods, variables measured, data analysis techniques, ethical considerations, and potential limitations of the methodology. Chapter Four presents a detailed discussion of the findings, highlighting the effects of exercise on various aspects of cardiovascular health such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, heart rate, and overall cardiac function in older adults. The conclusions drawn from this research are summarized in Chapter Five, which highlights the importance of regular exercise in maintaining cardiovascular health and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases in older adults. The findings of this thesis contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the benefits of exercise for cardiovascular health, emphasizing the need for healthcare providers to promote physical activity among older adults as a means of improving their overall well-being. In conclusion, this thesis underscores the significant positive impact that exercise can have on cardiovascular health in older adults. By shedding light on the mechanisms through which physical activity influences cardiovascular parameters, this research aims to guide healthcare professionals and policymakers in developing targeted interventions to promote and support exercise among older adults for the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases.
