Abstract
Childhood vaccination is a critical public health intervention that significantly reduces the burden of infectious diseases among children. Despite the proven benefits of vaccination, there are persistent challenges in achieving high vaccination rates due to various factors related to parental knowledge, attitudes, and barriers. This thesis aims to investigate and address the factors influencing childhood vaccination rates by focusing on parental perspectives. The study begins with a comprehensive review of the literature on childhood vaccination, highlighting the importance of high vaccination rates in preventing disease outbreaks and protecting vulnerable populations. The literature review also explores the various factors that influence parental decision-making regarding vaccination, including vaccine safety concerns, misinformation, and access barriers. In the research methodology chapter, the study design, data collection methods, and analysis techniques are detailed. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys to assess parental knowledge and attitudes towards vaccination with qualitative interviews to explore the barriers and facilitators to vaccination decision-making. The findings chapter presents the results of the study, highlighting the key factors that influence childhood vaccination rates from the perspectives of parents. The analysis reveals important insights into the role of healthcare providers, social influences, and vaccine information sources in shaping parental attitudes towards vaccination. The discussion chapter critically examines the implications of the study findings for public health policy and practice.
