Secretarial students in higher institutions require a range of English language skills to effectively perform their duties in professional settings. This research project aims to identify and analyze the specific English language skills needed by secretarial students in higher institutions. The study utilizes a mixed-methods approach, including surveys and interviews to gather data from both students and instructors in secretarial programs. The findings reveal that secretarial students must possess strong communication skills, including written and oral proficiency in English. These skills are essential for composing professional emails, reports, and other business correspondence. Additionally, the research emphasizes the importance of time management and organizational skills for secretarial students. These skills are essential for handling multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing assignments, and meeting deadlines efficiently. Proficiency in English language skills enables students to manage their workload effectively and contribute to the overall productivity of the office.
