This thesis investigates the impact of telemedicine on chronic disease management in older adults from a nursing perspective. With the aging population and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases globally, there is a growing need for innovative approaches to healthcare delivery. Telemedicine, which involves the use of technology to provide healthcare services remotely, has emerged as a promising solution to improve access to care and enhance patient outcomes. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of telemedicine in managing chronic diseases among older adults and to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with its implementation in nursing practice. The research methodology adopted for this study includes a comprehensive review of the existing literature on telemedicine and chronic disease management, as well as a qualitative analysis of data collected from nurses, healthcare providers, and older adult patients. The literature review highlights the benefits of telemedicine, such as increased access to care, improved medication adherence, and enhanced patient education. It also discusses the barriers to the adoption of telemedicine, including technological challenges, legal and regulatory issues, and concerns about privacy and security. The findings of this study reveal that telemedicine has the potential to significantly improve chronic disease management in older adults by enabling timely intervention, facilitating remote monitoring, and promoting self-care behaviors. However, several challenges need to be addressed to maximize the benefits of telemedicine, including the need for adequate training and support for healthcare providers, the integration of telemedicine into existing care models, and the establishment of clear guidelines and protocols for telemedicine practice. In conclusion, this thesis underscores the importance of integrating telemedicine into nursing practice to enhance the quality of care for older adults with chronic diseases. By leveraging technology to overcome barriers to access and improve care coordination, telemedicine has the potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery and empower older adults to better manage their health. This study provides valuable insights for healthcare providers, policymakers, and researchers seeking to harness the full potential of telemedicine in chronic disease management and improve health outcomes for older adults.
