Thesis Abstract
Effective management of postoperative pain remains a significant challenge in nursing care, often hindered by inadequate communication, limited patient engagement, and inconsistent pain assessment practices. The advent of E-health interventions offers promising avenues to enhance pain management outcomes through digital platforms that facilitate real-time monitoring, patient education, and personalized pain management strategies. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an integrated E-health intervention in improving postoperative pain management among adult surgical patients. Specific objectives include determining the impact of the intervention on pain intensity levels, assessing patient satisfaction, evaluating compliance with pain management protocols, and exploring nurses’ perceptions of E-health tools in postoperative care. Employing a quasi-experimental research design with pretest-posttest control groups, the study involved a sample of 200 adult postoperative patients from two tertiary hospitals, randomly assigned into intervention (n=100) and control (n=100) groups. The intervention group received access to a custom-designed mobile health application that provided daily pain assessments, educational modules on pain management, medication reminders, and direct communication channels with nursing staff over a period of seven postoperative days. The control group received standard postoperative care without the digital platform. Data were collected through validated instruments, including the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), Patient Satisfaction with Pain Management Questionnaire (PSPMQ), and Compliance with Pain Management Scale (CPMS).
