Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The use of virtual reality (VR) technology in medical rehabilitation has shown promising results in enhancing the recovery process for stroke patients. This thesis presents the development of a Virtual Reality-Based Rehabilitation Program specifically designed for stroke patients. The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of VR-based rehabilitation in improving motor and cognitive functions in stroke patients, compared to traditional rehabilitation methods. The research begins with a comprehensive review of the existing literature on virtual reality applications in medical rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation techniques, and the benefits of incorporating VR technology into rehabilitation programs. This literature review highlights the potential of VR-based interventions in improving patient outcomes and enhancing engagement and motivation during the rehabilitation process. Following the literature review, the research methodology section outlines the design and implementation of the Virtual Reality-Based Rehabilitation Program. The methodology includes the development of VR-based exercises tailored to address the specific motor and cognitive deficits commonly observed in stroke patients. The study also incorporates quantitative and qualitative measures to evaluate the effectiveness of the VR-based rehabilitation program in improving patient outcomes. The findings from the study reveal significant improvements in motor and cognitive functions among stroke patients who participated in the VR-based rehabilitation program. Participants demonstrated enhanced motor skills, increased range of motion, improved balance, and enhanced cognitive abilities following the completion of the VR-based exercises. The results suggest that VR technology can be a valuable tool in enhancing the rehabilitation process for stroke patients. In conclusion, the development of a Virtual Reality-Based Rehabilitation Program for stroke patients shows great promise in improving patient outcomes and enhancing engagement during the rehabilitation process. The findings of this study contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the integration of VR technology in medical rehabilitation practices. This research underscores the importance of innovative approaches in rehabilitation therapy and the potential benefits of incorporating VR technology to improve patient care and outcomes.
