Thesis Abstract
The abstract section of the research content is as follows Abstract
The outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has had a profound impact on various populations worldwide, including internally displaced persons (IDPs). This study aims to investigate the specific impacts of the infectious epidemic on IDPs and understand the challenges they face in responding to the pandemic. A case study approach is utilized, focusing on a specific population of IDPs in a selected region heavily affected by COVID-19. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data on the experiences of IDPs during the pandemic. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys distributed among a representative sample of IDPs, assessing their access to healthcare, adherence to preventive measures, and overall well-being. Qualitative interviews will be conducted with key informants, including IDP leaders, healthcare providers, and humanitarian workers, to provide in-depth insights into the challenges faced by IDPs in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature on the intersection of infectious epidemics and displacement, shedding light on the unique vulnerabilities of IDPs in the face of public health crises. By examining the direct and indirect impacts of COVID-19 on IDPs, this research seeks to inform policy and practice aimed at addressing the needs of displaced populations during infectious disease outbreaks. Additionally, the study aims to identify effective strategies for mitigating the risks faced by IDPs and enhancing their resilience in the context of health emergencies. The implications of this research are far-reaching, with potential relevance for policymakers, humanitarian organizations, and public health authorities involved in responding to infectious epidemics among displaced populations. By highlighting the challenges faced by IDPs during the COVID-19 pandemic, this study aims to promote targeted interventions that address the specific needs of this vulnerable group. Ultimately, the research seeks to contribute to a more inclusive and effective public health response that prioritizes the well-being of all populations, including internally displaced persons.
Thesis Overview

This research work empirically explored the impact of infectious epidemic on internally displaced persons in Nigeria a case study of corona virus disease. The objectives of this study were to examine the level of coronavirus disease in Nigeria, investigate the impact of coronavirus disease on poverty line of internally displaced persons in Nigeria. The scope of the study is internally displaced persons in Nigeria, The infectious disease transmission mechanism theory was used as a framework. The research design used for this study is survey, the population targeted for this study consists of all internally displaced persons camps across the country. 400 internally displaced persons were used as sample size and cluster sampling technique was applied. Instrument used for this study is the questionnaire. Data collected were collected from primary sources. From the analysis of the data, the findings shows that the level of coronavirus disease in Nigeria as compared to other countries is average, coronavirus disease has effect on the poverty level of internally displaced persons in Nigeria. Following the findings, it was recommended that measures should be devised to curb the spread of the virus and vaccine created so as to prevent further rise in poverty line of the internally displaced persons. The study concludes that coronavirus disease has effect on internally displaced persons.
