Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This research project aims to develop a statistical model to analyze the effects of weight on patients with high blood pressure. High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a common health condition that affects a significant portion of the population worldwide. It is well-documented that being overweight or obese is a major risk factor for developing high blood pressure. Therefore, understanding the relationship between weight and blood pressure is crucial for effective management and treatment of hypertension. The statistical model will utilize data from a cohort of patients diagnosed with high blood pressure. Various factors such as age, gender, body mass index (BMI), and weight will be included in the analysis to determine the specific impact of weight on blood pressure levels. By employing advanced statistical techniques, the model will be able to identify patterns and associations between weight and blood pressure among the study participants. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into how weight influences blood pressure in patients with hypertension. This information can be used by healthcare professionals to tailor individualized treatment plans for patients based on their weight status. Additionally, the findings may contribute to the development of targeted interventions aimed at reducing high blood pressure among individuals who are overweight or obese. Overall, the statistical model proposed in this research project has the potential to enhance our understanding of the complex relationship between weight and high blood pressure. By elucidating the effects of weight on blood pressure levels, healthcare providers can improve the quality of care provided to patients with hypertension. Ultimately, the goal of this study is to contribute to the ongoing efforts to combat the global burden of high blood pressure and its associated complications through evidence-based interventions and personalized healthcare strategies.

Thesis Overview

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

The number of people with high blood pressure is in the increase and research has shown that this condition is hightened by overweight of the patient. That is to say, the more one increases in weight, the higher the tendency of him or her becoming hypertensive. Mori TA (2007).

In essence, there is a symbolic relationship between being over-weight and being hypertensive or having high blood pressure. It is in the interest of people who are likely to develop high blood pressure (over-weight people) to seek out ways of managing their weight, as this research work will try to bring out the effects of weight on such people with high blood pressure. What seems unresolved here is the extent to which weight affect people suffering from high blood pressure. Many writers’ views will be examined in the cause of this work to help resolve the issue at stake.
