Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This study explored the teachers' perception of challenges related to the effective teaching and learning of Home Economics in schools and colleges in Imo State. The aim was to identify the key obstacles that impact the delivery and reception of Home Economics education in the region. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining surveys and interviews to gather data from teachers who specialize in Home Economics. The findings revealed several challenges faced by teachers in imparting Home Economics knowledge, including inadequate resources, lack of professional development opportunities, large class sizes, and limited support from school administration. These obstacles hindered the teachers' ability to engage students effectively and deliver quality education in the subject. The study suggests that addressing these challenges is crucial to improving the teaching and learning of Home Economics in Imo State schools and colleges. Recommendations include providing more resources, offering continuous professional development for Home Economics teachers, reducing class sizes, and enhancing administrative support for the subject. By overcoming these challenges, educators can create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning, ultimately benefiting both teachers and students in the field of Home Economics.
