Abstract
This study aims to investigate the relative academic performances of senior secondary school students in the subject of Home Economics in external examinations from 2009 to 2015, focusing on a case study of Oturkpo Local Government Area (L.G.A). The research will analyze the trends in academic performance over the selected seven-year period to identify any patterns or changes that may have occurred. Data will be collected from the examination records of students who took the external examinations during this time frame. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques. Quantitative analysis will involve statistical methods to compare and contrast the academic performances of students across the different years under review. Qualitative analysis will involve interviews and surveys to gather insights from teachers, students, and other stakeholders in the education sector within the L.G.A. The findings of this research will provide valuable insights into the academic performances of senior secondary school students in Home Economics within the Oturkpo L.G.A. The results may reveal trends in performance, factors influencing academic outcomes, and potential areas for improvement in the teaching and learning of Home Economics in the region. This information can be beneficial for educational policymakers, school administrators, teachers, and students themselves. By examining the academic performances of students over a seven-year period, this study aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on educational outcomes in Home Economics. The research findings may be used to inform strategies for enhancing academic performance, developing curriculum content, and improving teaching methods in the subject. Additionally, the study may shed light on any disparities or inequalities in academic achievement among students in the Oturkpo L.G.A. Overall, this research project seeks to provide a comprehensive analysis of the relative academic performances of senior secondary school students in Home Economics external examinations from 2009 to 2015 in Oturkpo L.G.A. The outcomes of this study have the potential to impact educational practices and policies aimed at improving student learning outcomes in the subject of Home Economics.
