Abstract
The sustainability of livelihoods in rural farming communities is crucial for the overall well-being and development of these areas. This thesis aims to assess the various strategies employed by rural farming communities to sustain their livelihoods, focusing on factors such as agriculture, income generation, natural resource management, and community empowerment. The study utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, and data analysis to provide a comprehensive understanding of sustainable livelihood strategies in rural farming communities. The research findings reveal the challenges faced by rural farming communities, including limited access to resources, climate change impacts, and market fluctuations. Despite these challenges, the study identifies several successful livelihood strategies that have contributed to the resilience and sustainability of rural farming communities. These strategies include diversification of income sources, adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, community-based natural resource management initiatives, and capacity-building programs. The study also highlights the importance of social capital, local institutions, and government support in enhancing the sustainability of livelihoods in rural farming communities. The implications of the research findings are discussed in relation to policy recommendations and future research directions.
