Abstract
This thesis explores the Assessment of Sustainable Agriculture Practices for Small-Scale Farmers in Rural Communities. The study aims to investigate the adoption and impact of sustainable agricultural practices among small-scale farmers in rural areas. The research is motivated by the need to promote environmentally friendly and economically viable farming methods that can enhance food security and livelihoods in rural communities. The methodology involved a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, including surveys, interviews, and field observations. Data was collected from small-scale farmers in various rural communities through structured questionnaires and face-to-face interviews. The study also reviewed existing literature on sustainable agriculture practices and their relevance in small-scale farming contexts. Findings from the research indicate that small-scale farmers in rural communities face various challenges in adopting sustainable agriculture practices, including limited access to resources, lack of knowledge and awareness, and traditional farming practices. However, those who have adopted sustainable practices have reported positive outcomes such as increased crop yields, improved soil fertility, and reduced production costs. The discussion of findings highlights the importance of promoting sustainable agriculture practices through capacity building, extension services, and policy support. It also emphasizes the need for tailored interventions that consider the specific needs and context of small-scale farmers in rural areas. The study concludes with recommendations for policymakers, extension workers, and other stakeholders to support the adoption and scaling up of sustainable agriculture practices among small-scale farmers in rural communities. In summary, this thesis contributes to the existing literature on sustainable agriculture practices by focusing on their assessment and implementation in the context of small-scale farming in rural communities. The findings provide insights into the challenges and opportunities for promoting sustainable agriculture practices among small-scale farmers and suggest ways to enhance their adoption and impact.
