Abstract
This thesis investigates the assessment of sustainable agricultural practices for smallholder farmers in rural communities. The study aims to address the critical need for sustainable agricultural practices in rural areas to enhance food security, economic development, and environmental sustainability. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature on sustainable agriculture and smallholder farming, the research explores various practices that can be implemented by smallholder farmers to improve productivity, profitability, and resilience to climate change. The study also examines the challenges and constraints faced by smallholder farmers in adopting sustainable agricultural practices and proposes strategies to overcome these barriers. The research methodology involves a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with smallholder farmers in rural communities. Data collection will focus on gathering information on current farming practices, challenges faced, and attitudes towards sustainable agriculture. The research will also assess the impact of sustainable agricultural practices on crop yields, income generation, and environmental sustainability. The findings of the study reveal that smallholder farmers face various challenges in adopting sustainable agricultural practices, including limited access to resources, lack of technical knowledge, and market constraints.
