Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of sustainable farming practices on rural household income and food security. Sustainable farming practices have gained increasing attention globally as a means to address food security challenges and promote environmental sustainability. The study aims to explore how the adoption of sustainable farming practices influences rural household income and food security outcomes. The research methodology employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with rural households in selected communities. A total of 200 households were surveyed, and 20 in-depth interviews were conducted to gather detailed insights into the experiences and perceptions of farmers regarding sustainable farming practices. The findings reveal that the adoption of sustainable farming practices has a positive impact on rural household income and food security. Farmers reported increased crop yields, reduced input costs, and improved soil fertility as key benefits of sustainable practices such as organic farming, agroforestry, and integrated pest management. These practices not only contribute to higher incomes but also enhance the resilience of rural households to climate change and market fluctuations. In conclusion, this thesis contributes to the growing body of literature on sustainable agriculture by highlighting the importance of sustainable farming practices in improving rural livelihoods and food security. The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to promote sustainable agriculture and ensure the well-being of rural communities.
