Urbanization has led to significant challenges in managing stormwater effectively, resulting in increased flooding, water pollution, and strain on existing infrastructure. To address these issues, the implementation of green infrastructure has emerged as a sustainable approach to managing stormwater in urban areas. This thesis investigates the effectiveness of implementing green infrastructure in urban areas for sustainable stormwater management. The study focuses on assessing the performance of various green infrastructure practices, such as green roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavements, and bioswales, in mitigating stormwater runoff and improving water quality. The research methodology involves a combination of field studies, data collection, and analysis to evaluate the impact of green infrastructure on stormwater management. A comprehensive literature review is conducted to understand the current state of knowledge on green infrastructure practices and their effectiveness in urban settings. The study also considers factors such as cost-effectiveness, maintenance requirements, and community acceptance in the evaluation of green infrastructure. Findings from the research reveal that green infrastructure plays a crucial role in reducing stormwater runoff, decreasing peak flows, and improving water quality in urban areas. The performance of different green infrastructure practices varies based on factors such as site characteristics, design, and implementation.
