Urbanization poses significant challenges to biodiversity conservation, leading to the need for sustainable solutions to mitigate its negative impacts. This thesis focuses on the assessment of the effectiveness of green infrastructure in urban areas for biodiversity conservation. Green infrastructure, consisting of natural and semi-natural elements integrated within urban settings, has emerged as a promising approach to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services in cities. This study investigates the role of green infrastructure in supporting urban biodiversity conservation efforts. The research begins with a comprehensive literature review to explore the theoretical foundations and practical applications of green infrastructure in urban areas. The review highlights the importance of green spaces, such as parks, green roofs, and urban forests, in providing habitat for wildlife, promoting biodiversity, and enhancing ecosystem resilience in cities. The methodology chapter details the research design, data collection methods, and analytical framework employed in this study. Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, including site surveys, interviews with key stakeholders, and data analysis, the effectiveness of green infrastructure in conserving urban biodiversity is evaluated. The findings chapter presents the results of the study, including the assessment of different types of green infrastructure interventions and their impact on biodiversity conservation in urban areas. The discussion delves into the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing green infrastructure projects and provides recommendations for enhancing their effectiveness in supporting biodiversity conservation goals.
