Constraints to the teaching of oral English are multi-faceted and can vary across different educational settings. This research project aims to identify and analyze the major constraints that hinder effective teaching of oral English in the context of secondary schools in developing countries. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach to gather data from both teachers and students. Surveys will be conducted to collect quantitative data on the perceived constraints to teaching oral English, while focus group discussions will provide qualitative insights into the experiences and perspectives of teachers and students. Preliminary literature review suggests that some of the common constraints to teaching oral English include limited resources and materials, large class sizes, lack of teacher training, and inadequate language proficiency among teachers.
