This thesis examines the representation and exploration of post-colonial themes in contemporary African literature. The study focuses on analyzing how African writers address the lingering impact of colonialism on their societies, cultures, and identities through their literary works. The primary objective is to critically evaluate the various ways in which post-colonial themes are depicted, interpreted, and interrogated in African literature, with a specific emphasis on the complexities of identity, power dynamics, cultural hybridity, and historical narratives. The research begins with an introduction that provides a contextual background to the study, outlining the significance and relevance of investigating post-colonial themes in contemporary African literature. The problem statement highlights the gaps in existing scholarship and identifies the need for a comprehensive analysis of how African writers engage with post-colonial issues.
