The rapid advancement and adoption of digital payment systems have transformed transactional behaviors among small retailers in urban economies, yet comprehensive assessments of their broader economic impacts remain limited. This study aims to evaluate how digital payment adoption influences small retail businesses in terms of sales performance, customer base expansion, operational efficiency, and financial inclusion. The specific objectives include determining the extent of digital payment adoption among retailers, analyzing its effect on sales volume and revenue, exploring changes in customer patronage patterns, assessing operational cost reductions, and identifying challenges faced during implementation. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study integrates quantitative and qualitative approaches to provide a robust analysis.
