ABSTRACT This thesis investigates the impact of code-switching on bilingual communication in multilingual societies. Code-switching, the alternation between two or more languages within a single discourse, is a common phenomenon in multilingual environments. The study aims to explore the reasons behind code-switching, its effects on communication dynamics, and the implications for language use and identity in diverse linguistic settings. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, defining the problem statement, outlining the objectives, discussing the limitations and scope of the study, highlighting its significance, and presenting the structure of the thesis.
