This thesis investigates the influence of social media on language evolution through a sociolinguistic analysis. The rapid growth and widespread use of social media platforms have significantly impacted the way people communicate and interact with each other. This study aims to explore how social media has shaped language use and linguistic norms, leading to the evolution of new language varieties and communication styles. By examining the dynamic interplay between social media and language, this research seeks to shed light on the transformative effects of digital communication technologies on linguistic practices. The study begins with an exploration of the background of social media and its emergence as a dominant mode of communication in contemporary society. It highlights the role of social media platforms in facilitating connectivity, information dissemination, and the formation of online communities. Drawing on existing literature, the research reviews the various ways in which social media has influenced language use, including the proliferation of new vocabulary, changes in grammar and syntax, and the development of distinct communication norms.
