The evolution of language has been a topic of interest for linguists and researchers for centuries. With the advent of social media platforms, communication dynamics have significantly shifted, leading to new trends and patterns in language use. This thesis explores the influence of social media on language evolution, focusing on how digital communication platforms have shaped and transformed linguistic practices. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses to examine the impact of social media on language evolution. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. It also includes a definition of key terms to establish a solid foundation for the research. Chapter Two consists of a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies on the relationship between social media and language evolution. The chapter discusses ten key themes related to language change, digital communication, linguistic diversity, and sociolinguistic implications of social media use.
