Abstract
The pervasive impact of social media on communication practices and language evolution has become a focal point of linguistic research in recent years. This study aims to investigate the influence of social media on language evolution through a corpus-based analysis. The research explores how social media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, shape language use and linguistic patterns. Utilizing a corpus-based approach, this study examines a large dataset of social media posts to analyze language variations, trends, and changes over time. Chapter One provides the introduction to the research, outlining the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review that discusses existing research on the impact of social media on language evolution, linguistic theories, and methodologies relevant to corpus linguistics and social media analysis. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including the corpus compilation process, data collection methods, corpus annotation techniques, and statistical analysis procedures.
