Abstract
Dental caries is a prevalent oral health issue affecting children worldwide. The use of dental sealants has been a common preventive measure to reduce the incidence of caries. This thesis aims to assess the efficacy of different types of dental sealants in preventing dental caries in children. The study will investigate various types of sealants, including resin-based sealants, glass ionomer sealants, and fluoride-releasing sealants, to determine their effectiveness in caries prevention. The research will begin with a comprehensive literature review to explore existing studies on the topic and provide a theoretical framework for the study. Subsequently, a detailed methodology will be outlined, including the selection criteria for participants, the application of sealants, and the follow-up period for evaluation. The study will involve a sample of children from different age groups to assess the impact of sealants on caries prevention. Data analysis will be conducted to compare the efficacy of the different types of sealants in preventing dental caries. Factors such as retention rate, caries incidence, and overall oral health status will be evaluated to determine the most effective sealant type. The findings will be discussed in detail, highlighting the strengths and limitations of each type of sealant.
