Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of body-worn cameras (BWCs) on police officer behavior and public perceptions of law enforcement. The use of BWCs by law enforcement agencies has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, with the aim of enhancing transparency, accountability, and trust between police officers and the communities they serve. The research explores the various ways in which BWCs influence police officer behavior, including their adherence to departmental policies, interactions with the public, and decision-making processes during critical incidents. Moreover, the study examines the effects of BWCs on public perceptions of law enforcement, focusing on aspects such as trust, legitimacy, and satisfaction with police services. By analyzing existing literature, empirical studies, and case examples, this research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of BWCs in policing practices.
