Cybercrime has become a pervasive and growing threat to society, impacting individuals, businesses, and governments worldwide. This thesis investigates the impact of cybercrime on society and the responses of law enforcement agencies to combat this evolving challenge. The study aims to provide insights into the nature and extent of cybercrimes, the effectiveness of current law enforcement strategies, and the implications for society at large. The introductory chapter sets the stage by presenting the background of the study, problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. Through a comprehensive literature review in Chapter Two, ten key themes related to cybercrime and law enforcement responses are critically analyzed, including cybercrime types, trends, motivations, challenges faced by law enforcement, and emerging technologies in cyber defense. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. The chapter further discusses ethical considerations, limitations of the methodology, and efforts to ensure the validity and reliability of the study findings. In Chapter Four, the findings of the research are presented and discussed in detail. The impact of cybercrime on society is explored, including financial losses, privacy breaches, identity theft, and implications for national security. The responses of law enforcement agencies are evaluated, highlighting best practices, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
