Abstract
This thesis explores the effectiveness of restorative justice programs in reducing recidivism rates among juvenile offenders. The criminal justice system has long been focused on punitive measures to address juvenile delinquency, with the goal of deterrence through incarceration. However, there is a growing recognition of the limitations of this approach in promoting long-term behavioral change and reducing reoffending. Restorative justice programs offer an alternative framework that emphasizes accountability, community involvement, and victim-offender dialogue. Chapter One provides an introduction to the study, presenting the background of the research topic, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two comprises a comprehensive review of the literature, examining existing research on restorative justice programs, recidivism rates among juvenile offenders, and the theoretical foundations of restorative justice. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study.
