This thesis explores the impact of social media on crime reporting and public perceptions of criminal justice. The advent of social media has revolutionized the way information is disseminated and consumed, including news related to crime and criminal justice issues. This study aims to investigate how social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, have influenced the reporting of crime incidents and shaped public perceptions of the criminal justice system. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, discussing the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives of the study, limitations, scope, significance, and the structure of the thesis. Definitions of key terms related to social media, crime reporting, and public perceptions are also provided. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies on the relationship between social media, crime reporting, and public perceptions of criminal justice.
