The Linguistic Representation of Group Identity

Thesis Abstract

This project aims to examine the ways in which language contributes to the construction and representation of group identity within diverse social and cultural contexts. Language plays a pivotal role in shaping the collective identity of social groups, including communities, organizations, and subcultures. Through an interdisciplinary analysis drawing from sociolinguistics, anthropology, and cultural studies, this study seeks to explore how linguistic practices, communicative norms, and discourse patterns contribute to the formation and expression of group identity. By investigating the linguistic representation of group identity, this project aims to provide valuable insights into the complex interplay between language and collective belonging.
