This thesis investigates the implementation and impact of virtual reality (VR) technology in enhancing student engagement and understanding in the field of chemistry education. The aim of this study is to explore how VR technology can be effectively integrated into chemistry education to create immersive learning experiences that promote student engagement and deepen their understanding of complex chemical concepts. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two comprises a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies on the use of VR technology in education, particularly in the field of chemistry. Ten key themes related to VR technology and its impact on student engagement and understanding are analyzed to provide a theoretical framework for the study. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations of the research methodology. Chapter Four presents a detailed discussion of the findings obtained from the study, focusing on the impact of VR technology on student engagement and understanding in chemistry education. The analysis of the data collected highlights the effectiveness of VR technology in creating immersive learning experiences that enhance student motivation and comprehension of complex chemical concepts.
