Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Entrepreneurial characteristics play a significant role in influencing the performance of businesses across various industries. This research project aims to explore the effects of entrepreneurial characteristics on business performance, focusing on key traits such as risk-taking propensity, innovation orientation, proactiveness, autonomy, and competitive aggressiveness. By examining these characteristics in the context of different organizational settings and industries, this study seeks to provide valuable insights into how entrepreneurial traits impact business outcomes. The research methodology involves a combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative assessments. Surveys will be conducted among business owners, managers, and employees to gather data on the presence and manifestation of entrepreneurial characteristics within their organizations. Additionally, interviews and case studies will be used to delve deeper into the specific ways in which these traits influence decision-making processes, strategic direction, and overall performance metrics. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to both theoretical knowledge and practical applications in the field of entrepreneurship and business management. By identifying the relationships between entrepreneurial characteristics and business performance, this study can offer guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs, business leaders, and policymakers on how to leverage these traits for improved organizational outcomes. Furthermore, the results may highlight the importance of fostering a culture that nurtures and rewards entrepreneurial behavior within companies of all sizes. Implications for future research include exploring the intersection of individual entrepreneurial characteristics with broader organizational factors such as culture, structure, and strategic orientation. By further examining the interplay between these elements, researchers can deepen their understanding of how entrepreneurial traits interact with the overall business environment to drive performance and competitive advantage. Additionally, longitudinal studies could track the evolution of entrepreneurial characteristics within firms over time, shedding light on the dynamic nature of these traits and their impact on long-term success. In conclusion, this research project seeks to shed light on the effects of entrepreneurial characteristics on business performance, offering valuable insights for academics, practitioners, and policymakers alike. By examining the nuances of these traits and their implications for organizational outcomes, this study aims to advance our understanding of the role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and innovation.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

An entrepreneur is an innovator who implements changes within a market through the carrying out of new combinations. The carrying out of new combination can take several forms; the introduction of a new good quality, there fore; the introduction of a new method of production, the opening of a new market; the congress of a new source of new materials or parts; the carrying out of the new organization of any industry. Further more, an entrepreneur is an individual that identifies, develop and brings vision to life under condition of risk and a considerable uncertainty. The vision may be an innovative idea, an opportunity or simply a better way to do something (Mamma, 2010).

This is the reason why it is often said that every entrepreneur is a human being but not every human being is an entrepreneurs. Besides, another limitation is that the respondents could have either over exaggerated or understate their responses while scoring the items in the questionnaire. Also the nonchalant attitude of some of the respondents could affect the validity of their response to the questionnaire.
