The press has long been recognized as a powerful tool in shaping the political structure of a society. This research project focuses on exploring the impact of the press in shaping the political structure of Nigeria, with a specific case study of Enugu State. Nigeria, as a country with a diverse and complex political landscape, provides an interesting context to investigate the role of the press in influencing political dynamics. Enugu State, located in the southeastern part of Nigeria, has its own unique political history and challenges, making it a relevant case for this study. The study employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing interviews, content analysis of newspapers, and review of relevant literature to examine the relationship between the press and the political structure in Enugu State. Additionally, interviews with journalists, politicians, and other stakeholders in the state will provide valuable insights into how the press influences political discourse and decision-making processes. The findings of this research project are expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of the role of the press in shaping the political structure of Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole. By uncovering the ways in which the press influences public opinion, policy formulation, and political behavior, this study aims to highlight the significance of a free and responsible press in a democratic society. Moreover, the research findings may have practical implications for policymakers, media professionals, and civil society organizations seeking to enhance transparency, accountability, and good governance in Enugu State.
