Thesis Abstract
Abstract
Secret cultism in Nigerian schools has become a major problem that poses various dangers to students, staff, and the overall educational environment. This research project aims to explore the different facets of secret cultism in Nigerian schools, shedding light on the various faces it presents and the associated risks. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, interviews with stakeholders, and analysis of relevant data, this study uncovers the intricate web of secret cult activities in schools across Nigeria. The research reveals that secret cultism in Nigerian schools manifests in various forms, including but not limited to violence, intimidation, extortion, and academic sabotage. These cult groups often recruit students through deceptive means, exploiting vulnerabilities and promising false benefits. Once initiated, members are subjected to strict codes of conduct and loyalty to the cult above all else, leading to a culture of fear and secrecy within the school community. Moreover, the dangers of secret cultism in Nigerian schools extend beyond individual students to the entire academic environment. The presence of cult groups disrupts the normal functioning of schools, creating an atmosphere of fear and distrust. Students who refuse to join or speak out against cult activities are often targeted, leading to physical harm, psychological trauma, and even loss of life in extreme cases. Furthermore, secret cultism in Nigerian schools undermines the core values of education, such as discipline, respect, and intellectual pursuit. By promoting violence and criminal behavior, cult groups erode the moral fabric of the academic community and hinder the development of a safe and conducive learning environment. This research highlights the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to address the root causes of secret cultism in Nigerian schools and protect students from its harmful effects. In conclusion, the findings of this research project underscore the complex nature of secret cultism in Nigerian schools and the multifaceted dangers it poses to students, staff, and the educational system as a whole. By raising awareness about the different faces of secret cultism and its impact, this study aims to inform policymakers, educators, and the public about the urgent need to tackle this pervasive problem and safeguard the future of Nigerian schools.
