Studying the mechanisms of protein folding

Thesis Abstract

This project aims to study the mechanisms of protein folding, a complex process by which newly synthesized polypeptide chains adopt their functional three-dimensional structures. Protein folding is essential for protein stability, function, and cellular processes. Understanding the mechanisms of protein folding is crucial for unraveling the causes of protein misfolding diseases and developing therapeutic strategies. This project will explore the principles of protein folding, including the role of molecular chaperones, protein folding pathways, and the factors influencing protein folding kinetics. Experimental techniques, such as protein engineering and spectroscopic methods, will be employed to investigate protein folding mechanisms and folding intermediates.
