Thesis Abstract

This project aims to explore the biochemistry of drug metabolism in breast milk. Breast milk is a vital source of nutrition for infants, but it can also contain various drugs that the mother may have consumed. Understanding the biochemistry of drug metabolism in breast milk is crucial for assessing the potential risks and benefits of breastfeeding while taking medications. This study will investigate the enzymes and pathways involved in drug metabolism in breast milk, as well as factors that may influence drug transfer into breast milk. The findings will contribute to the knowledge of drug safety during breastfeeding and help healthcare professionals make informed decisions regarding medication use in lactating mothers.
