MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that play crucial roles in gene regulation and have been implicated in various biological processes, including cancer progression. This thesis aims to explore the role of miRNAs in cancer progression, focusing on their mechanisms of action, dysregulation in cancer, diagnostic and prognostic potential, and therapeutic implications. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to miRNAs, the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. The literature review in Chapter 2 covers ten key aspects related to miRNAs in cancer, including their biogenesis, functions, dysregulation in different cancer types, and their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Chapter 3 outlines the research methodology, including the selection of miRNAs of interest, sample collection, miRNA expression analysis techniques, bioinformatics analysis, and statistical methods used to interpret the data.
