Cancer is a complex and heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell growth and proliferation. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development and progression is crucial for the development of targeted therapies and improved patient outcomes. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as key regulators of gene expression and have been implicated in various aspects of cancer biology. This thesis aims to explore the role of miRNAs in cancer development and progression, focusing on their potential as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, as well as therapeutic targets. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, discussing the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key aspects related to miRNAs in cancer, including their biogenesis, functions, dysregulation in cancer, and potential clinical applications.
