Cancer is a complex and multifactorial disease characterized by uncontrolled cell growth and proliferation. Epigenetic modifications, such as DNA methylation, histone modifications, and non-coding RNA regulation, play a crucial role in the development and progression of cancer. Understanding the interplay between epigenetic alterations and cancer progression is essential for the development of targeted therapeutic interventions. This thesis aims to explore the role of epigenetic modifications in cancer progression and investigate potential therapeutic strategies to target these alterations. Chapter One provides an introduction to the study, discussing the background of epigenetics in cancer, the problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and key definitions. The literature review in Chapter Two delves into ten key studies on epigenetic modifications in cancer, highlighting the current understanding of the mechanisms involved and potential therapeutic targets. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the selection of cell lines and animal models, experimental techniques for detecting epigenetic modifications, data analysis methods, and ethical considerations.
